The next Montgomery Canal Triathlon will be held on Saturday 2nd May 2020
Entries open 'officially' on 1st November but people can email montcanaltriath@btinternet.com
as soon as they want to say they plan to take part and they'll get an entry form and details by 1st November

FMC Annual General Meeting.
Was held at 3.00pm in Pant Memorial Hall
The meeting was well attended and………
After the meeting, Gareth Jones, Professional Lead Regeneration of Powys County Council
gave a very interesting presentation on his experience of the Mon & Brec Canal and some views of
what the restoration of the Montgomery Canal can bring to the area.
2nd/3rd March St David’s Day Walk
Meet outside the Waggon and Horses Pub on Canal Road Newtown at 10a.m.

Come and join us on this medium ability circular walk, which will incorporate part of the Severn Way.
After a slight ascend to take in lovely views, we will make our way to Freestone lock,
pass by the Penarth Weir, and perhaps spot some beautiful birds on the Pwll Penarth
Nature Reserve, before strolling back to the pub.
Suitable footwear recommended as it could be muddy.
Parking is either on Lower Canal Road or on Dolafon Road
28th April St George.s Day Walk
The walk is started at Llanymynech Visitor Centre car park,
meeting at 9.45am, for a 10.00am start.
It leaves there and climbs to Pant Village then down along a lane to do
a short section of canal towpath as far as Schoolhouse Bridge.

13th October FMC Sunday Lunch
The Friends' Annual Sunday lunch was held at Lakeside Garthmyl.
The Friends made a £5,000 donation to the Restore the Montgomery Canal! Appeal.
The presentation was made at the group’s annual
dinner when committee member Chris Bushnell presented
an outsize cheque to Michael Limbrey who chairs the
appeal group.Michael Limbrey said, “This donation from
the proceeds of the Montgomery Canal Triathlon, the major
event on the canal, will be a real boost to our appeal to
reopen the canal to mid-
